Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of Shioh ("we", "us") about using Shioh at shioh.com. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
Your account
You need to be at least 13 (16 in the EU and UK) to have an account. Sign-up is by invitation for now. Keep your login secure; you're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at hello@shioh.com if you think someone else has access. Anyone can view public profiles and play the games without an account.
Your content
You own what you post. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and process it only to run and improve Shioh (for example, to show your public profile to visitors). The licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies in backups for a short time. You're responsible for having the rights to what you post, including photos and quotations.
Acceptable use
Don't use Shioh to: break the law; harass, threaten or impersonate anyone; post content that infringes others' rights or is sexually explicit, hateful or violent; send spam; access accounts or data that aren't yours; probe, overload or disrupt the service; or scrape it in bulk without permission. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
Connected services
If you connect other accounts (Chess.com, Lichess, GitHub, Goodreads, Letterboxd, Duolingo, Readwise, RSS feeds), their own terms apply, and we only use the access you give us to provide the features you turned on. You can disconnect at any time.
AI features
Some features draft or suggest things using AI. Suggestions can be wrong; check them before you rely on or publish them.
Price
Shioh is free right now. If we add paid plans, we'll explain the prices and terms before you're ever charged, and the free features you use won't be taken away without notice.
Our service
We work to keep Shioh available and your data safe, but we provide it "as is" and may change, pause or discontinue features. If we shut the service down, we'll give at least 30 days' notice and a way to export your data.
Disclaimers and limits
To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties (such as fitness for a particular purpose), and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for more than the greater of what you paid us in the last 12 months or US$50 in total. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Ending
You can stop using Shioh and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you break these terms or to protect others; where reasonable we'll tell you why.
Changes to these terms
We'll post updates here with a new date, and tell you about significant changes in the app or by email. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the new terms.
